Motor Supply (former Jose Motors) building, Augusta ME

Over time at this retail facility, years of moisture had seeped unnoticed through small cracks into structural concrete slab that had been designed to be self supporting. As a result the concrete ceiling material started to spall, or disintegrate into loose shale-like debris, onto the floor below. At some point, plywood had been installed to cover some sections as a temporary measure, but a more permanent solution was clearly needed.  The E.J. Perry crew was brought in to solve the problem by saw cutting and removing the damaged concrete, installing reinforced steel bar, and repouring the concrete.
